I’ll jump to the point before I share the details :). Landen’s cath procedure went very well today, and all is clear for the Fontan on Monday! They had clear view of his anatomy with access through the groin and neck. Thankfully there was no need for interventions (coils or balloons). They got a clear picture of all his pressures and confirmed he is ready for the Fontan. All great news!
The day did start a little rocky as his orders were no food or drink after midnight, but just after he went to bed last night we got a call from Childrens telling us that his procedure was being pushed out to second in line as an emergency case came in during the night. Our new start was supposed to be 10am so he was allowed liquids till 8am today. Unfortunately he didn’t actually get started with his procedure till 2pm. Despite the long morning of waiting with no food, liquids or IV’s he was a ROCK STAR! No surprise to his parents of course :) (always making us proud).
All in all it was a good day. The procedure lasted about three hours and since it was late and he needs to stay immobile till 10:45pm we need to stay the night. That will be the hardest part...keeping a very healthy, but unhappy little man still for 5 hours!! Ashley will stay the night and I will head home late only to return and take Mom and Landen home in the morning hopefully. Just one parent is allowed in the room and I lost the arm wrestle ;)
As always, thanks so much for your prayers! They are felt and we are in a great spot. Landen is ready and so are we so let’s get the “party started” and get to Monday for the big day.
Enjoying the journey,
George, Ashley, Landen, Maddie and Lyla
