After five fantastic days home with Landen, Boston Childrens Hospital just couldn't bare to be without us for one more day.....so we are back :(
As a condition of our departure from Childrens last Saturday, the electrophysiology (EP) wanted us to have Landen on a holter monitor for 24 hours straight in order to get a post surgery baseline and check on his rhythm after he was home. So Wednesday around 1pm it was dropped off and ran until Thursday at the same time. By dinner time we got a call from the cardiac team at Childrens asking us to bring Landen up to be admitted. Apparently during that 24 hours he did go into VT again. It wasn't sustained, but definitely something they want to address.
My Dad came over to cover the girls, and was shortly joined by my Mom. Ashley and I were quickly in the car and headed back up to Boston. We arrived at the ER around 7 or 8, which was the first step required for us to be admitted. After 5.5 hours we were finally up in a room on the cardiac floor!!
He has not gone into VT since by the looks of his monitor, but they will continue to watch him through the night. Tomorrow the EP team will review him and make a decision on next steps. Likely it will be to get him back on a med for his rhythm, monitor his progress for a couple more days, and then get him home again. Let's hope that's as short as possible, or better yet that they find his electrolytes are low and this can be solved with dietary adjustment and we go home early :)
Either way, we are along for the journey.
Thank you for your continued prayers. Of course this is frustrating for Ashley and I, as well as the girls who just got there parents back. But we knew this was going to be a rocky road and we will ride it wherever it takes us.
Enjoying the journey,
George, Ashley, Madison, Lyla, and Landen
