It is Fontan Time!

SO... it has been awhile but here we are... Landen is doing great and will be turning THREE in May!! He is such a fun happy boy, loves his sisters, almost always has a smile on his face and always keeps mommy and daddy laughing and busy!!

But as this birthday comes close we are now ready to proceed with his 3rd (and final) of the planned open heart surgeries called the Fontan. He has done so well. Most of the time you would never be able to tell he only has half a heart inside. He has had no setbacks, been growing well, developing consistently and we have so enjoyed hearing his sweet fun personality come to life with his words. For a while now, as expected, he does show signs when he is not getting enough oxygen. He will stop running, take a rest, catch his breath and then get up and go some more until he is too tired again. He is such a FIGHTER! 💗  This surgery will help with his stamina as they will disconnect his pulmonary artery from his heart and now take all the blood vessels that return blood from the bottom half of his body and connect them directly to his pulmonary artery which will allow the combined rhythm of his breathing along with the pressure of his heart to essentially push his blood to his lungs to be oxygenated. This will give him oxygenated blood to the bottom half of his body allowing him to move, run and be active much easier. We are very confident and hopeful that this will be a successful and smooth surgery. He has the best doctors and surgeons who are experts in this field and ultimately God, our Great Physician, has been holding him since the beginning and we are continuing to trust wholly in Him.

At this time Landen is scheduled for a day of pre-cath testing on Feb 22 and a Cardiac Cath procedure on Feb 23 and then Open Heart Surgery on the 26th.

We need your prayers!

Currently Landen is battling an Upper Respiratory Infection and if it has not cleared by this weekend we will probably need to reschedule his surgery and cath procedure. Ultimately we will take any necessary precautions to make this as safe and smooth of a process as we can. But our prayer and hope is that we will not need to reschedule. With all the anticipation of this coming month, schedule and childcare arranging we have made and our families have made it is overwhelming to me to have to start over.

So we are asking you to pray with us for a quick healing of this cold Landen has and ultimately that George and I continue to trust and follow the path God has set out for us and Landen and to remember to Lean into God's strength, hope and peace. Landen has been in God's ultimate care since the very beginning and God has been so faithful to us. So we continue to trust in the Lord.

"Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life? Since you can not do this very little thing, why do you worry about the rest? "
Luke 12:25-26

Trust in Him at all times, o people; pour out your heart to Him, for God is our refuge.
Psalms 62:8

Thank you all for your love, support and prayers!
George, Ashley, Madison, Lyla and Landen
