Landen continues to work hard over hear on the floor. The last couple days have been slow, but productive. They are watching him and slowly pulling medications to see how he handles things. Yesterday they pulled his flecainide and today his sodium. They will be conducting an EKG at the 24 and 48 hour marks to confirm that his rhythm shows no signs of potential VT. If that looks good, then he will not need to be on any meds. The same goes for his sodium. They will confirm his levels are appropriate tomorrow night (was going to be Saturday till I pushed for Friday night). If all goes well, we should be on track for a departure from Children s for the 20th, which is my birthday coincidentally! If things are not as expected they will have to wait a couple days to place him back on meds (likely the same sodium, but different rhythm med) and monitor.
Our hope of course is that he is READY to get home for this weekend. Not just because of my birthday, or fathers day on Sunday, but because we know he will thrive at our home and having everyone back together in one place will be such a big deal!
On another note he has been eating like a champ. He continues to impress the staff and is gaining weight like a champ. He also had his hearing test this morning and passed with flying colors! This is honestly the least of our worries, but checking boxes off like this just takes one more thing off the table for us to consider in the future. His incision looks great, his heart rate, respiratory rate and O2SAT's all look fantastic. Our little man is just covered in prayer, and he continues to fight! Thank you all :)
So, here is to another couple days of great growth and progress! We will be home before you know it, and its Mommy and Daddy's job to give him the encouragement to push through this last couple days...without burning ourselves out in the process :) We have a list of boxes to check off, and Landen's surgeon Dr. Kaza and cardiologist's Dr. T & Sarah are all on board with helping us make the goal of a Saturday jail break!
Enjoying the journey,
George, Ashley, Madison, Lyla and Landen
