Day 1.5 Post Opperation

Good evening all!  Its late I know but I figured I would give a quick update.  Landen has turned a good corner in the last 6 hours.  His color is coming back, and he was able to get a blood transfusion which helped a ton!  He did have an echo tonight and it showed signs of his band working much better.  We still don't have the balance of flow that we are looking for, but we are getting closer.  As I said in the last post, this will take some time.  It could possibly take weeks, but our hope is that we know within the next couple days weather or not the band is sufficient the way it is.

Ashley is now at home in her own bed and I had a chance to shower in my own shower finally!  We count even the small pleasures in life :) I am back up here in Boston after having dinner with the family and putting the girls to bed.  The girls are doing so well, and we are so proud of them, yet they are both missing Ashley and I.  I will be taking Maddie on a date this weekend to make sure we have some time to connect, and I will make sure to do the same with Lyla.  Ashley and I have actually had a lot of time together (sadly more than we get normally), and that has been a blessing (although I am sure she is probably sick of me a little...;) ).

I will say this one last comment before I go.  As I walked back into the CICU today I was greeted by a room full of nursing staff and doctors.  All of them were there just because they wanted time with our son!  Not because he needed them there, but they needed to be near him.  He has reach celebrity status here on the 8th floor but I don't think its just because he is cute (although it helps).  I think that they can see a peace in him, and in Ashley and I that is only possible because of your prayers.  Landen is a light here as I have said before and the staff here treats Ashley and I as a big part of the team.  Not only do we interact with his nurses, but we are an active part of the rounds when they are discussing Landen's treatment!  I am learning so much...the nurse said that we should get an honorary degree after all this because we are "like sponges", to which I responded that by doing so would minimize the amazing work that they do.  The team here are the best of the best, and the nurses are (in the words of Skip my father in law) the Navy Seals of nurses :)

Here is to a great day, and an even better tomorrow!

Enjoying the journey,
George, Ashley, Madison, Lyla and Landen
