Big steps tomorrow!

Well, the day has finally come where we are about to graduate to the "floor"!  Praise God & Hallelujah! This means he is not in critical care any longer and is moving to a monitoring/standard hospital floor.  We are just so excited to see him getting closer to being home :)

Today was a pretty amazing day.  Several days ago his feeding tube was removed and he started feeding from a bottle yesterday.  He continued feeding very well through the day with his last feeding getting closer to the 1.5oz mark (he was 2.25oz prior to surgery).  You can be sure that I pushed him a little...and he made it happen.  By late morning I think he will be at the 2oz mark :)  Along with some great feeding progress, he also made great strides regarding his access points.  Currently he has had all access, feeding tubes and respiration help removed with the exception of one IV (unfortunately in his head...apparently it was the best spot for it).  This means he is as mobile as he has been for a couple weeks and we are limiting future infection issues as well!

Ashley was up here for the day today, and went home to be with the girls.  I think it is getting harder and harder to leave Landen "alone" since he is so close to being a "normal" functioning kid.  I ended up staying here to help soften the blow of him being alone for to long (even though we have 1:1 nurses for him).  That was the plan, until the nursing staff came by our room and offered two free tickets to the Sox/Braves game tonight!  I did end up going, as hard as it was to leave him but had a great time.

Tonight marks the end of our ICU stay potentially and tomorrow will be the start of A LOT OF WORK on our end.  We will take on the role of a full time nurse, and as you know from prior posts that is going to be a very hard job to fill. I also started my first day back to work on light duty.  Hopefully I can get back to full time soon and continue to provide financially for the family, but until that, I'm glad I took the time, as we have all tried to "enjoy the journey" in the moments we could :)

Thank you all for your continued prayers.  They are felt, and they are helping!  Landen will be home soon and that day will be the start to a happy life at home with a family who cannot wait to be with him!

Enjoying the journey,
George, Ashley, Madison, Lyla and Landen!
