Landen found a way!

So Ashley and I joke about Landen and his "girlfriends" in the ICU and how he really is just finding a way to go see them again.  Well today he found a way :)

We are currently in the ICU rather than the cardiac floor and this is really due to the need for better 1:1 monitoring than anything else. For those of you who missed it, Ashley wrote up a great post yesterday stating some of the goals of today and if you want more detail, you can read that here (http://landensstory.blogspot.com/2015/10/the-crisp-fresh-fall-brings-fresh-new.html?m=1).  The catheter procedure went very well today.  The same Doctor who did his first cath lab procedure did today's which is a big deal for all of us because it shows continuity in his long term care.  He felt very comfortable with Landens pressures but did notice that his PA band is a bit tight (not surprising since he has grown so much) and he also had some collateral vessels.  He didn't feel as though he had many, but enough that he would have closed them with coils on any other kid.  He did not do so with Landen because he knew if he did, there would be a chance that his pulmonary blood flow would decrease even more than it already has and he had no great options for a plan B.  Ideally he would open the PA band but the best way to do so would require opening Landen back up and that is NOT what we want to do two days before a scheduled procedure like the GLEN.

Currently Landen is sleepy, but happy some of the time.  The rest of the time he is just ticked to have so much stuff attached to him while he recovers.  Unfortunately that makes his sats dip into the 40's at times which is why we are in the ICU.

All in all, it's been a busy day but a productive one.  We are all tired now and I am hoping Landen will get some rest tonight as well as his Mom ;)

For now, thank you for the prayers!  Keep them up and remember to enjoy the journey!!

PS: this was the way he woke up today and rode down to the catheter lab.  After a long night of multiple IV sticks and pulling the IV they placed in his head out on his own.  This picture clearly says "I call the shots around here!  No way you are putting that thing in my head.  Now let's do this thing!" :)
